Produce yourself

 Welcome to my mid-winter blog-post!
Dear friends,
It's Saturday morning and I'm enjoying some quality time at home, preparing for our Treasures of Hope Women Group meeting tonight. Reflecting on the journey and the call of God in my life.  Pondering God's counsel; the words of knowledge prayed and spoken over my life by men and women of God in the past. I see clarity in this season, things coming to pass in my family, work and ministry. Perhaps I am more open to God than I ever was before. How I love Him more, His closeness I treasure! God is teaching me more about His love.  He is my strength, "my glory and the lifter of my head"  (Psalm 3;3), as I apply myself with faith to the tasks He has called me to fulfill.

"God is my glory and lifter the of my head" (Psalm 3:3)
I am privileged to be available to work with the broken and helpless women in our society. They have been ship-wrecked by life's circumstances; violence, drugs, sexual and physical abuse... They are angered and disillusioned with loved ones, church and with society. There are many churches, social and spiritual organizations with resources to give, or to help direct them to the appropriate supports. However, these can be just 'quick-fixes' if there is no accountability and ongoing support towards recovery. You cannot mend broken lives with just food parcels and prayers. Life goes on and people need more. That special touch that only God can give when there's an environment created that is conducive to healing, hope and encouragement.

Treasures of Hope is still in an incubation stage. We are fully dependent on God and prayers to keep this going. It is an open group that offers women fellowship, spiritual support and friendship. As leader, I've been blessed to host and be available to the women. From our humble beginnings in my home we've moved to a new venue with plenty of room to accommodate more women.

As I close this note, let me place a challenge before you. God has gifted and equipped you and I with  so much. Your life experiences can be turned around to help free others from their misery. God is looking for people with hearts to stir up strength, courage and faith in others. Discrimination, tokenism, come in many forms and  labels in our society. Rise up and put your skills to good use. Don't let people patronize you because of age, background, achievements, status, and so on.  You've got so much but unless you do something with those talents and abilities you will lose out on living a fulfilled life.
Get started, get going and "produce yourself."

I found this quote which inspired the title of this post. It makes a lot of sense in my own life. Let me share it with you :
"Maturity includes the recognition that no one is going to see
anything in us that we don't see in ourselves.
Stop waiting for a producer. Produce yourself."
~ Marianne Williamson ~
Thank you for your continued prayers for this ministry.

Blessings and love

The courage of love

Against the dark background of much despair, the message of Easter, of the resurrection brings to us a bright light of hope. It is a message about the courage of love that sets the Christian faith apart from all other beliefs. It is about a loving God who relentlessly pursues us (Ezekiel 34:12) despite the sin in our lives. During our reflection time at work this week – I was led to read the following scripture: Jesus said to [Martha] “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" (John 11:25-16). Sometimes we don’t think much about the daily acts of courage as we live out our Christian values. It takes courage to speak God's Word in places where you know there are unbelievers who are resistant to the message of he Gospel. I believe this is no time to be satisfied with the status quo in our lives. We should take every opportunity that come and turn them into times

A new year - a "fresh start"

The New Year is here! What a year it's been. And I'm really glad to be starting a New Year. Looking back, 2010 was a busy year. I started a new job at the beginning of the year. Launched my blog (Treasures In Darkness) and started writing. I volunteer weekly as co-host for a radio prayer ministry to the Samoan community and the nations. The ministry celebrated it's first birthday last year. The month of April saw the start of an outreach ministry "Treasures of Hope" to local women in the community. Then in November/December, I attended the 50th Jubilee of Youth With A Mission in Kona, Hawaii. The year closed with the passing away of my father on Christmas day. That year is behind me now. It's time to look ahead! One of the values I had learned from my late father's life was that of ' perseverance. ' He believed in hard work ("if you don't work you don't eat... you become poor"). As a fisherman, he was well known for bringing big

The suddenlies!

Welcome to my November post!   God moves in the suddenlies!   Treasures Of Hope image From little things, big things grow. When a door of opportunities closes, l ittle grace becomes enough grace. We grope in the darkness of the valley until  a glimmer of light appears. Hope! Ju st a little hope, is enough hope, so you hold on to that.    When the unexpected happens, will my mustard-seed faith move the mountain that blocks the way forward? Jesus said, " if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" Matthew 17:20. Two months ago, I resigned from my job and before I had time to ponder over things, I was on a plane to a conference for Pacifi c women in Brisbane, Australia . I had prayed about goin g to this in the past but I'd been so consumed with work and other commitments that I'd forgotten about it. U ntil now, and I thanked G
