Flourish in the season

Welcome to my new blog-post!

A new month begins and we’re into the fifth week of spring already. Praise God!

surrounded by the cherry blossoms of spring
It’s lovely to see evidence of spring all around us. I had a lovely surprise the other day to see a few flowers in my garden. It was totally unexpected because I had not paid any attention to my garden for a long time. But my lack of efforts in the garden did not stop the flowers from growing. As long as the seeds were alive in the soil they will always respond to the season that God had intended for them to bloom in. Now isn’t that a good thought! Nothing can stop the progress of something that is in its season.  You maybe feeling smothered or stuck in that place where you are in; whether it’s your marriage, work, ministry, relationship or any other areas of your life. God desires for us to flourish in our season and we need to be obedient and give up the reins to God.

Listen to what the prophet Isaiah 43:19 says, “"Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.”

How do we flourish in our season? Our mere human efforts are limited. We need to look at the words we are speaking? Words are powerful. The Bible says, Life and death is in the power of the tongue. Someone said Gods' Word is pregnant with potential and with power. Therefore, in order to flourish and thrive in our season, we need to listen to the words of Jesus, “The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” (John 6:63).

Let us pray :
Heavenly Father,
We pray that we will place our trust in You and Your Word rather than in the words of others that do not line up with your truth. Forgive us for spending too much time trusting in our own plans, thinking and ideas rather than taking your Word into our hearts and living by it. We pray that in the Name of Jesus, who is the Living Word, Amen.

Loved this blog, dear Lome, and the rose is gorgeous! I have noticed that since I was diagnosed with Scleroderma by my doctor, back in 2007, that my relationship with the Lord Jesus has flourished. . .the Holy Spirit is now like the breath I breathe. . .I'm in tears now, as He is overwhelming me with His presence, as I'm typing.

In 2011, a year after we got together in Hawaii, I noticed that the symptoms of that disease had totally diminished. Today I still suffer pain, daily, in my feet and hands, but I know that God will heal them too, as I continue to speak the Word of God, out-loud, over my body. "You have been healed by His wounds." 1 Peter 2:24b. . . .one of my favorites!

Thanks so much for your prayers over the past 4 years, Lome. . .I know they have brought about healing in my body. I praise God for His flourishing presence in me. . . I LOVE HIM SOOOOOO MUCH!!

    Love you dear sister,
    Linda

  3. We are embarking into autumn and soon to be close to winter in Canada Salome, I was so confused by 'spring' post. Bless you and thank you for a poignant blog post. My husband and I are seeking the will of our Lord with much desire to be obedient. His faithfulness is shining forth in very concrete ways! I'm so completely amazed and thankful! This was perfect for today!

The courage of love

Against the dark background of much despair, the message of Easter, of the resurrection brings to us a bright light of hope. It is a message about the courage of love that sets the Christian faith apart from all other beliefs. It is about a loving God who relentlessly pursues us (Ezekiel 34:12) despite the sin in our lives. During our reflection time at work this week – I was led to read the following scripture: Jesus said to [Martha] “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" (John 11:25-16). Sometimes we don’t think much about the daily acts of courage as we live out our Christian values. It takes courage to speak God's Word in places where you know there are unbelievers who are resistant to the message of he Gospel. I believe this is no time to be satisfied with the status quo in our lives. We should take every opportunity that come and turn them into times

The suddenlies!

Welcome to my November post!   God moves in the suddenlies!   Treasures Of Hope image From little things, big things grow. When a door of opportunities closes, l ittle grace becomes enough grace. We grope in the darkness of the valley until  a glimmer of light appears. Hope! Ju st a little hope, is enough hope, so you hold on to that.    When the unexpected happens, will my mustard-seed faith move the mountain that blocks the way forward? Jesus said, " if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" Matthew 17:20. Two months ago, I resigned from my job and before I had time to ponder over things, I was on a plane to a conference for Pacifi c women in Brisbane, Australia . I had prayed about goin g to this in the past but I'd been so consumed with work and other commitments that I'd forgotten about it. U ntil now, and I thanked G

A new year - a "fresh start"

The New Year is here! What a year it's been. And I'm really glad to be starting a New Year. Looking back, 2010 was a busy year. I started a new job at the beginning of the year. Launched my blog (Treasures In Darkness) and started writing. I volunteer weekly as co-host for a radio prayer ministry to the Samoan community and the nations. The ministry celebrated it's first birthday last year. The month of April saw the start of an outreach ministry "Treasures of Hope" to local women in the community. Then in November/December, I attended the 50th Jubilee of Youth With A Mission in Kona, Hawaii. The year closed with the passing away of my father on Christmas day. That year is behind me now. It's time to look ahead! One of the values I had learned from my late father's life was that of ' perseverance. ' He believed in hard work ("if you don't work you don't eat... you become poor"). As a fisherman, he was well known for bringing big
