Welcoming 2014 with praises and thanksgiving!

Looking back to 2013 with a thankful heart for God's mercy and grace throughout the journey. What an amazing God! The year had its struggles; suffering, frustrations and disappointments but God is our hope. Sometimes our troubles are like the roaring of the seas and like David says, God stilled the storms and led us through to the beginning of another year. As I look back, I am filled with awe at God's faithfulness as he turned my troubles around to make me see the wonders of his grace. David sings, "Where morning dawns and where evening fades, God calls forth songs of joy." I believe the most appropriate response that we can give God and be part of this year's crown is by calling forth a song of joy from the innermost part of our being for God is worthy of our praises!

"You who answer prayer, to you all people will come." Prayer is our vital connection with God. He hears our honest prayers and encourages us. It is God's desire that we become fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), and we must pray for fruitfulness in our lives. Jesus said "Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you" Matthew 7:7. Earlier this year, I had an opportunity to preach at my church and I preached a message on digging spiritual wells through praying. I can testify to the faithfulness of God as He placed in my path many opportunities to pray for (and with) people leading some to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior. Will it not be good for us if part of the crown of this year should be a commitment to be more prayerful, attend prayer meetings or form a prayer group to pray for the lost in our communities and in the world?

David says in the second part of Psalm 65:11, "... and your carts overflow with abundance." God's faithfulness showed up in many situations of our journey this year but some of us would have missed it because we were either too occupied with life, or, we were praying and simply waiting for things to happen the way we want them to, 'our way'. But listen to the rest of Psalm 65, The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grains, they shout for joy and sing." David sings from his intimate knowledge of who God is. He knew his God and what He can do. Do we know God intimately enough or would not it be well with us if the Lord will crown this year with his goodness by making us renew our vows and say "Here I am Lord, I give myself to you once more."

Let's pray,
Father we thank you for your faithfulness to us during 2013. Please help us to set time aside for deeper reflection over what you have done and the promises you have for us, that you will complete. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Happy New Year and thank you for visiting!

The suddenlies!

Welcome to my November post!   God moves in the suddenlies!   Treasures Of Hope image From little things, big things grow. When a door of opportunities closes, l ittle grace becomes enough grace. We grope in the darkness of the valley until  a glimmer of light appears. Hope! Ju st a little hope, is enough hope, so you hold on to that.    When the unexpected happens, will my mustard-seed faith move the mountain that blocks the way forward? Jesus said, " if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" Matthew 17:20. Two months ago, I resigned from my job and before I had time to ponder over things, I was on a plane to a conference for Pacifi c women in Brisbane, Australia . I had prayed about goin g to this in the past but I'd been so consumed with work and other commitments that I'd forgotten about it. U ntil now, and I thanked G

The courage of love

Against the dark background of much despair, the message of Easter, of the resurrection brings to us a bright light of hope. It is a message about the courage of love that sets the Christian faith apart from all other beliefs. It is about a loving God who relentlessly pursues us (Ezekiel 34:12) despite the sin in our lives. During our reflection time at work this week – I was led to read the following scripture: Jesus said to [Martha] “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" (John 11:25-16). Sometimes we don’t think much about the daily acts of courage as we live out our Christian values. It takes courage to speak God's Word in places where you know there are unbelievers who are resistant to the message of he Gospel. I believe this is no time to be satisfied with the status quo in our lives. We should take every opportunity that come and turn them into times

A new year - a "fresh start"

The New Year is here! What a year it's been. And I'm really glad to be starting a New Year. Looking back, 2010 was a busy year. I started a new job at the beginning of the year. Launched my blog (Treasures In Darkness) and started writing. I volunteer weekly as co-host for a radio prayer ministry to the Samoan community and the nations. The ministry celebrated it's first birthday last year. The month of April saw the start of an outreach ministry "Treasures of Hope" to local women in the community. Then in November/December, I attended the 50th Jubilee of Youth With A Mission in Kona, Hawaii. The year closed with the passing away of my father on Christmas day. That year is behind me now. It's time to look ahead! One of the values I had learned from my late father's life was that of ' perseverance. ' He believed in hard work ("if you don't work you don't eat... you become poor"). As a fisherman, he was well known for bringing big
