I will go before you

"I WILL GO BEFORE YOU"

Every journey has a beginning point and a destination. A good start doesn’t necessary mean a good end for some... We have heard it said that it is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end…(quote by Ernest Hemingway).

Let me say this without discouraging anyone, that the road to heaven isn't always like a walk in the park; it is not always like walking through roads with simple and straightforward directions. Neither is it always like a pleasant walk through fields filled with flowers and birds that sing. Through personal experiences, It is a road that is uphill and full of difficulties, with many trials, temptations and endless enemies who are waiting around every corner to discourage and cause the traveler to give up. But I am still here (and so are many of you) and the journey continues... How have we come this far?

The Word of God is full of treasures and we discover these as we continue to read it, personalise His promises and apply it to our own lives.  My blog, “Treasures in Darkness” was birthed 5 years ago out of the following verses from Isaiah 45:2-3: this is God speaking to King Cyrus saying, “I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.” What does this promise mean for me?
I am grateful every time I look back at my journey and I can see through reading God's Word the places where God intervened along the way. God's mercy, His unfailing love kept me going.  Until I asked Jesus to be the Lord of my life, I did not know that He was always there along the journey. He went before me to straighten the crooked places (sin) of my life and level the mountains (problems, struggles, difficulties...). I was given the privilege of choosing His way and not my way. Without Him, I would have died in the hands of the enemy; I would have drowned in my sorrows, I would have ended my life because of shame, anger, and frustrations. His promise in Isaiah 45 is for anyone who will believe in Him. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. He said, "I will go before you". Jesus died on the cross so do not have to continue to suffer on my own. God is faithful and he keeps His promises
Life is a journey. I can see the treasures from God's Word through the lessons learned from life experiences; peace of mind, forgiveness, trust and healing. Every time I share with others I feel refreshed and see how God heals me as I continue to share my story. I'm eternally grateful that God was present in my past and is present now and will also be there when I arrive at the destination of my journey. Le's pray,
Thank You Lord for opening doors that no one could shut, for saying “no” to pathways that would have led me away from Your will, for Your amazing timing, and for the people You brought into my life to pray, to help, and to encourage me in my walk with You.

The courage of love

Against the dark background of much despair, the message of Easter, of the resurrection brings to us a bright light of hope. It is a message about the courage of love that sets the Christian faith apart from all other beliefs. It is about a loving God who relentlessly pursues us (Ezekiel 34:12) despite the sin in our lives. During our reflection time at work this week – I was led to read the following scripture: Jesus said to [Martha] “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" (John 11:25-16). Sometimes we don’t think much about the daily acts of courage as we live out our Christian values. It takes courage to speak God's Word in places where you know there are unbelievers who are resistant to the message of he Gospel. I believe this is no time to be satisfied with the status quo in our lives. We should take every opportunity that come and turn them into times

The suddenlies!

Welcome to my November post!   God moves in the suddenlies!   Treasures Of Hope image From little things, big things grow. When a door of opportunities closes, l ittle grace becomes enough grace. We grope in the darkness of the valley until  a glimmer of light appears. Hope! Ju st a little hope, is enough hope, so you hold on to that.    When the unexpected happens, will my mustard-seed faith move the mountain that blocks the way forward? Jesus said, " if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" Matthew 17:20. Two months ago, I resigned from my job and before I had time to ponder over things, I was on a plane to a conference for Pacifi c women in Brisbane, Australia . I had prayed about goin g to this in the past but I'd been so consumed with work and other commitments that I'd forgotten about it. U ntil now, and I thanked G

A new year - a "fresh start"

The New Year is here! What a year it's been. And I'm really glad to be starting a New Year. Looking back, 2010 was a busy year. I started a new job at the beginning of the year. Launched my blog (Treasures In Darkness) and started writing. I volunteer weekly as co-host for a radio prayer ministry to the Samoan community and the nations. The ministry celebrated it's first birthday last year. The month of April saw the start of an outreach ministry "Treasures of Hope" to local women in the community. Then in November/December, I attended the 50th Jubilee of Youth With A Mission in Kona, Hawaii. The year closed with the passing away of my father on Christmas day. That year is behind me now. It's time to look ahead! One of the values I had learned from my late father's life was that of ' perseverance. ' He believed in hard work ("if you don't work you don't eat... you become poor"). As a fisherman, he was well known for bringing big
