The power of inspiration

The power of inspiration

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” ~John 4:10

There is no subject like Jesus. He is a river that never runs dry!
It brings me joy to share with others what I feel God has shared with me. Personally, I find it beneficial to seek Jesus in the everyday moments of life, which is primarily what I write about.

In my devotional reading yesterday, I reflected on the story of the Samaritan woman talking with Jesus at the well (John 4:1-26). It’s a beautiful narrative where Jesus arrives at a well in Samaria, thirsty from His journey. A Samaritan woman was present, and Jesus asked her for a drink. Three key themes stood out to me from this story: physical thirst, spiritual thirst, and the power of inspiration.

Jesus is amazing—He is bold and brilliant! He has a remarkable ability to offer what is within Him and share it with others. Jesus knew the woman’s background and her need for a Saviour. He inspired her to leave her water jar at the well and return to her town to share the exciting news: “Come see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”

COVID-19 has thrown many lives into turmoil. We sympathise with families who have lost loved ones, and the loss of jobs and the closure of businesses is affecting many. However, for many Christians around the world, being forced into isolation has provided more time to spend with the Lord in prayer and scripture reading. The preaching of the gospel on the internet and social media is gaining momentum, and there is a fresh hunger in people for the things of God. We are grateful that, despite being in lockdown, all of our basic needs are being met.

My devotional reading states, “To inspire like Jesus did, we must first be convinced of how truly blessed we are.” We come to know this as we are filled with the Spirit and live lives full of faith—our cup of blessings overflows. “It is from this overflow that we bless and inspire others.”

The woman left her jar, symbolising her old life, and returned to her town, where people knew her past. With a ‘new language,’ she excitedly told them, “WOW! How can we inspire people like Jesus did?”

Isaiah 61 is a beautiful scripture to read: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound…” I love how Jesus took what He had within Him and shared it with the woman. He knew who He was, and what He spoke was the truth!

There is no subject like Jesus; there is so much to explore about Him. He is indeed like a river that never runs dry. Personally, it helps me to maintain a mindset of seeking Jesus in my daily experiences, which is what most of my devotions revolve around.

One-on-one interactions can be powerful, heart-to-heart connections are warm and attractive, generosity involves giving what one has for the betterment of others, and fulfilment—there is nothing better in this world than feeling fulfilled. Being in the right place at the right time is crucial; being in the wrong place can have harmful consequences.
It is a joy to share with others what you feel God has shared with you.  Personally, it is also good to live with the mentality of looking for Jesus in everyday moments of life, which is mostly what I write about.

There is no subject quite like Jesus. There is so much to learn about Him; He is like a river that never runs dry. Personally, I find it beneficial to adopt a mindset of seeking Jesus in everyday moments, which is the focus of most of my devotions.

One-on-one - powerful
Heart to heart - warm, attractive
Generosity - giving what one had for the betterment of others.
Fulfilment - is there anything better in this world than feeling fulfilled?  Being in the right place at the right time.

The courage of love

Against the dark background of much despair, the message of Easter, of the resurrection brings to us a bright light of hope. It is a message about the courage of love that sets the Christian faith apart from all other beliefs. It is about a loving God who relentlessly pursues us (Ezekiel 34:12) despite the sin in our lives. During our reflection time at work this week – I was led to read the following scripture: Jesus said to [Martha] “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" (John 11:25-16). Sometimes we don’t think much about the daily acts of courage as we live out our Christian values. It takes courage to speak God's Word in places where you know there are unbelievers who are resistant to the message of he Gospel. I believe this is no time to be satisfied with the status quo in our lives. We should take every opportunity that come and turn them ...

Launch of Blog - "Treasures in Darkness"

Treasures in Darkness Today, I am launching my new blog - 'Treasures in Darkness." Praise God for technology!  God gives us the desires of our hearts. The blog is an open door of opportunities towards making a dream come true. Blogging is an opportunity to start writing! I feel like I own a million dollars.  God is exceedingly good!    " And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness - secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord God of Israel, the God who calls you by name'" (Isaiah 45:3). The world is full of treasures that are buried or hidden until it is discovered! When we face loss, pain and disappointment, God desires that we find the valuable lessons hidden in our times of affliction. It is all very well when our days are full of sunshine and the blessings of God are so evident. But the treasures in times of affliction are not easy to see. Our hearts must have eyes to seek Him in the darkness of our suffering - and...

It’s A New Season!

It’s A New Season - and  Moving Right Along... ”I worship you I worship You The reason I live is to worship You!” I thank God for my journey and for bringing me to a new milestone, a new era of my life, WOW!    Glory be to God!   I celebrated my 70th birthday a week ago with my family and it was a lovely beautiful time.     I thank God that I got to celebrate this milestone with the people I love the most; that Corvus 19 lock down happened while we’re all together as a family.    I’m ever so grateful to you Lord! And now, moving on to face this age thing “head on”.     The world talks a lot about 70 being the new 60, 50 being the new 40 and so on.    Whatever that mean, I think for me it is time to call a “spade a spade”. What does turning 70 mean for me?    Is it time to give up on living life like I used to?    Is it time to lose interest in the things that I have ...
